This was one of the first articles I created; back then I hadn't fully looked into the conventions surrounding names and thus used the Vietnamese version of her name without giving it much thought. Also I'm trying to figure out how Vietnamese sources refer to the parents. In Chinese Bich Ha is referred to by her maiden name but in English she's called "Bich Ha Pan". All outlets covering this case that I have read refer to the mom as "Bích Hà" (with or without diacritics) without mentioning her last name, while the dad is almost universally called "Huei Hann Pan". I guess I'll add explanatory footnotes to their names. I haven't read all of the articles in Vietnamese about this case, so I cannot say that it's the same for all. From my personal experience, women don't change their last names when they get married in Vietnam, so I guess she should be called by whatever her current legal name is, in this case, "Bich Ha Pan". — Đệ Nhị K.
